Chinese New Year in Hawaii is filled with traditions like the Lion dances in downtown Chinatown, eating special treats and lighting red firecrackers! For special occasions like Lunar New Year, Chinese families traditionally hand out envelopes filled with money to symbolize good luck and to ward off evil spirits.
Not wanting our pups to feel left out, we created our own version of this tradition – Doggie Lai See! Our envelopes aren’t filled with real money, but a currency that dogs will appreciate — Cruncy Poi Biscuit “coins”!
Each envelope is filled with 7 coin biscuits (approx. 1 oz) made from our classic biscuit recipe, but without any meat: whole wheat flour, cornmeal, vegetable oil, and fresh poi! Never any salt, sugar, butter or preservatives!
